No intercooler yet, tip turbine came out in '73. What this is one tube connects to the intake the other is just to draw warm air from under the hood

My bad. I didn't see that you covered that already.

Good observation. This truck was built before the tip turbine was introduced. The purpose of the twin intake is to allow the driver to choose between hot or cold air entering the engine. Only one pipe is used at a time.

Doug Fetterly has one of those 864 naturals. I traded it to him a few years ago. never seen one with a 9 or 10 speed. I have only seen them with q boxes.

I've got one in the remains of an old F model with a Unishift, all the others are either Triplex's or Quads.
