Nice Truck, it would be cool to own one of those.

how the hell do you turn it with the trailer so close to the cab?

The desert is flat ground, so just make slow gradual turn eventually it will point in the other direction.

That's a short wheelbase even for a daycab.

So this was the inspiration for that "Give me 40 acres to turn this rig around" song?

I think so, by looking at the truck it looks like it is late 60s early 70s. When did that song came out?

84superdog,

Not sure where you were in in the mid east during your tour, but the last pictures I took don't have a lot of mountains. After spending almost 5 years of the 21, I spent in the Army there I could be wrong.

I was in a HET company there too, on two separate occasions. I was there in the beginning before any armor vehicles, ACUs and Air Conditioning and the nice housing, but being deployed for 21 months I did get to see and haul the nice improvements.

This was my hooch, no AC, we did eventually find a window unit to keep the heat some what at bay.

That first bridge looks familiar, I went to Baghdad Camp Liberty , Balad Camp Anaconda, Camp Cedar and Camp Added kinda moved south the whole time. I didn't necessarily mean mountains but the areas I was in you couldn't just drive off thru the desert unless ya felt like getting stuck. I tried to stay in a HET while I was there, they had the best armor of our stuff but they were freaking hot with just the in dash a/c. I spent the majority of my time there recovering rolled Air Force MRAP's, those flyboys can't drive fur shit. The rest of the time was spent picking up the remnants of IED's and ambushed convoys, lots of tore up Haji trucks. From about Feb thru the beginning of April there was more mud than sand in Balad and Around Cedar and route Tampa. The HET's were the best thing we had for the mud too, kinda hard to stop a 500hp 8 wheel drive truck.

I remember hearing it when I was about 6 years old,so it was pre 1960.
