uh, well the E9 is a 16.4 liter V8 the E7 is a 12.8 liter 6 cylinder, the E9 has a lot more torque and the mileage is actually about the same since the E9 isnt really working hard, at least it has been for me , got 6.8mpg with an E7 400 and 6.8mpg with an E9 440 that made more like 600hp.

I have never pulled a load with my E9 yet. I have been told if u keep ur foot out of it and dont show off with the smoke, the E9 is way better. I have drove tons of pumped up E6 350 and they will eat fuel on windy days. Im sure the E9 dosent even notice the wind blowing. lol

Yeah I agree I you treat an E9 with resect it will is very efficient and will last you a long time. As for parts if you have patience to look you can find anything you need or with modern technology someone can make anything you can't get from Volvo. By far the best engine Mack made. The guy from NY told me at MATS that I had a far superior setup with my E9 with the Robert Bosch injection Mack E9 to any Cat. And there are alot of good pulling Cats everywhere. I've pulled up the Niagra Escarpment grossing close to 140,000lbs with my E9 450 And the only thing I know that is done to it is the fuel plate is slid up as far as it will go and a slight adjustment on the screw on the aneroid valve, and I have climbed it a good 10mph faster than 600 Cats. And I got as good of mileage as any of them. As far as cost of fixing try working on any of these new engines. I drive a 560 ISX Cummins in. W900L KW and every hill I climb I wish I had my E9 plus the Cummins is always in the shop costing big $ to fix. Give me a n E9 any day.

If anybody has an E9 540 spec sheet like that one for the 400 I need it bad to add to my paperwork, Ill take a copy I dont care, hook me up like a mutha truckin tow truck.

ok ok sorry my stupid fingers got the better of me, an E9 450, im sure im making over 540 right now but well go for the Mack paperwork to go in the brochure. Bad Dog, if you have a chance go get it copied at a local copy shop that can make it look good and mail it to me, Ill send you a check or paypal or something for it.
