I have been messing with the loader mostly, until today. Started tracking dead wires, lines, etc. One black plastic line (1/4 inch?) comes out of the front of the e6 motor (can't really see the connection) and terminates with a female coupling. Any ideas where would might want to go?

Dont know what you are saying when you are messing with the loader but if you are working on a truck engine the best way to trace a air line is to get a hold of it and run it to the end and that is were it is but if is not connected to any thing the only thing i can think of is the puff limiter cylinder has a air line to it going to a air reverse ing relay on the intake manifoild that is disconnected my many think that black smoke will give them more power. if that is were it is going dont worry about it untill you want to stop the black smoke on gear changes.

Hmmm the only things I can think of that are air operated on the front of an engine would be the fan clutch. And then it wouldn't be hanging with a coupling. Are you sure this is an air line? Can you post a picture?

I am not sure that it is an air line...Hard to show where it comes out of because it tucked up in the front of the motor. Could it run back up to a guage?

Looking at your "heater" post You do have a "puff limiter" with an ambac fuel pump, standing on the passenger side of the motor look at your injection pump.... look where the injection lines connecto to the injection pump the go forward about 4 or 5 inches and down about 2 you will see a cylinder attatched horizontally to the front of the injection pump with a hose coming off of it. that hose reaches around the front of the motor and attatches to the "puff limiter valve on the intake manifold near the heater core "water shut off valve" their is or should be 2 hose connected to that "puff limiter" valve the other one is the 1/4 inch air supply line you most likely are talking about..

It is an ambac fuel pump. What does a puff limiter do, and what in the picture told you that the truck has one?

The puff limiter holds the fuel rack back until the turbo builds up boost pressure making sure there is enough air to burn all the fuel. If un hooked or turned off you will get plenty of smoke on acceleration, some guys claim they get a little more oomph but its mostly wasting fuel.

There should be a round cylinder looking thing the front of the fuel pump(its about 3 or 4 inches long). The air hose should run behind the water pump to the top of the intake. Then to another cylinder with 1 more hoses on it. Its called an aneroid valve. Most of the time if its disconnected they do run better, cause most people dont shim the cylinder on the pump side. When its unhooked it lets u get full fuel at low RPMs. When its hooked up it holds the rack back till u get so much manifold pressure then releases the fuel(It does this to not allow the truck to smoke). There should be a PLE# on the side of the fuel pump to tell u what to shim it at, the numbers should read 1051~1081 or something like this. If its done correctly the truck should not smoke and have power on the low end.
