55 b61 shepard power steering

the eaton vane type hydrulic pump that couples to the generater i have 2 bouth bad does anyknow the eaton part # or a rebuild house that can rebuild it eaton has been little to no help shepard steering has been interested and trying to be of assistance but no sucess yet my next step is to buy a new style pump that meets shepard specs 2000psi to 3000psi and 2 to 5 gal per minute have a machine shop machine all nessasary changes to make it couple up this is a working truck i need it back in service thanks for any help this is the pump that drives the power steering

That was going to be my suggestion Matt.

To change the air compressor and run a Vickers pump.

He is right though the early power steering pumps were Eaton and drove off the back of the generator.

They used a special end frame for the generator so the pump would mount to it and a small rubber coupling to drive the pump.

We had 2 '58 "B" models with that set up on them for Ross assist power steering.

As an added bonus he could rid of the generator and change it over to an alternator!

yup, agreed! I had all those plans for my B when I put it together but finally just put it together and drove it, then added maxi brakes after, this winter I think im gonna ditch the generator and regulator for an alternator. I can take some pictures of the pump if you want or get you the Vickers # over the weekend. I have a few on trucks. my B had one that was belt driven off the back of the compressor but I think most R models had gear driven ones coupled direct? I have seen the generator driven ones, even seen a few setups go to the scrapyard before.
