Any mechanics out there familiar with this set up? I understand it was a popular combination years ago. I have a 78 Mack F series with this combination. Question I have, is that the engine has a regular fan setup. I was wondering if it is possible to change it to a clutch fan. Tired of hearing the manual fan whining all the time and need all the horsepower i can get out of it.

My brother has a 78 F Model that had a 350 Cummins in it, I would say it had the same setup on it except its got a viscos fan clutch. I ran a 67 F-737 that had a 250 Cummins 10 speed roadranger for years it did fine back in the 70s early 80s.

Thanks guys. The dog was a working truck up until a couple years ago. Going to restore and want to make some changes to it. First thing is I want hear the stack without that whine from the fan. Gets real annoying at higher rpm's.
