The original color for mack fire trucks in that era was #3469 medium red. That was discontinued and changed to #400 red, which is pretty common. One paint chart in the mid 80's showed 5 different reds used. Mack used to use Kirker Paint years ago and is reasonably priced from paint suppliers and they have a good website. Shades of red can drive you nuts!

And most department's specified their own colors as well. If you are doing a total re-paint I would pick a red you like that is widely available and go with it. There is no "wrong" color for fire apparatus.

There is no "wrong color of red" for fire apparatus. Every other color would be wrong in my opinion.
