Back in the day, many tandem drive trucks had no front brakes.

In 1974 I drove a new F Model tandem with steer axel brakes. That was the first tandem that I ever had them on. Then the '74 had an air toggle switch to cut the air to the steer axel for slippery roads.

My B has the "front brake limiter" air switch for dry and slippery road
