Hi all! I have a 2001 RD with the 350 E7. Had it at the dealer to run the valves and to check on the stop engine light coming on when first started in the morning. Anyway, they ran the codes and said it needed two EUP's and it would cost $2400 :o . The truck has 200k on it and seems to run fine. Is this something I can do? I am very mechanically inclined but have zero experience with Macks. We just got the truck. Though it seems to run fine, would it run better?? Running 72k half the time and empty the other half it gets about 5.5 mpg. Would replacing the two EUPs help that? Thanks for any input!

The last eup's I bought were under $300. And they take about 15 minutes to replace. But you still need to have the dealer calibrate them to the motor eventually. My dealer here doesn't charge for that. Usually the engine light eup code will come up as the weather gets colder, you may have a good year left in them though. If you replace them yourself just make sure u soak the pump o rings in the tight type of oil before installation. Those o rings are $50!

make dam sure you replace the bolts if you reuse them they will break if your truck is running fine and is not rough I would leave them alone we have 1 etech that throws unit pump codes since it was new and after replacing several sets and I mean sevral sets we stoped if it aint rough or missing walk away
