This may help.

Some models of truck will be B, R, U, DM, RW, RL, RS for example.

The first number will be the weight class 4, 6, 7, 8.

The next two numbers are the engine code.

Mack has used various suffix letters. Some examples:

T for single axle tractor

ST for six wheel tractor

P is a single axle straight chassis

S for straight tandem chassis

X severe duty

SX tandem severe duty
