But that's only because Mack's vast customer base was already completely satisfied with the cheaper Thermodyne-powered "B" Series tractors. Offering a short-nosed higher power V-8 tractor (for the east coast market) with the spacious and all-around superb "L" Series cab, a combination offering unsurpassed visibility, was arguably a brilliant evolutionary next step during the 1960s period. Good engine options.Might have lasted longer if the U & R hadn't come out in '65. The U was aimed pretty much at the same market, I believe.Still, seeing a C in person is pretty cool. Joe Ditchkus Posted January 17, 2014 Share Posted January 17, 2014 There are 2 running C-Models by me. ABoth single axle one has 673 and I think Quadbox it was Ezra Stipp or H.B. Sproul low boy tractor. The other one is a 711 with unishift,winch on back,winch more for show I think this one was at Macungie a few years ago..Joe D. I know the EJ Kelly Co. in Torrington had 4 of them but we got the last one 9 years ago.Wooster Express had quit a few also from Hartford. Theres a lot of hidden treasures up in that part of that state that you would never know was there. Fields full of antique machinery on dirt roads with cranes, dozers, trucks, etc... They are in Clarks Summit now and have a very short wheelbase Superliner V-8 I think. Their C-Model is owned by a rigging crane company on Keyser Avenue Scranton. I do not know if related to RC Sproul. I cannot think of name now.Their was a C-Model V-8 in Craigslist or Truck Paper in Oregon tandem with tank on back in the last year.I do not know if it sold. james j neiweem Posted October 15, 2015 Share Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) I never new the C model fenders swung out. C Model was a beautiful cross between a L and B model. Would have continued to make the accountants happy. This was the perfect answer to the White 9000 A car cab. Only speculating but the C model if continued may have outsold the U model. Sorry Vinny.
