Oh yeah! Not far from the home 20 there,Mark! Just inside the "cheddar curtain" as us "fibs" (f-ckin' Illinois bastards-called by some Wisconsinites) like to say! LOL!! Cool story about your Dad and the trivia! My signature on BMT, is what Big John used to say all the time. No truer words! Al

I was only there once when it was still open,i delivered in the area, and it was pretty much the "dump" it was advertised to be in Overdrive Mass 10 Truckstop,I do remember the restaurant across the street had pretty good food Yankee something or other I think it was called......................Mark

Never got better except the sign has 2 dimensional boobs on the Beaver.

I never knew Bettys Beaver was a chain, 4 in N.Y. and 1 in Vermont. Same cook at all of them.

Can't remember the name of it,but always liked the food at the Atkinson,IL truck stop on I-80,still standing last I knew, but locked up for years, The Hawk I at Coralville,IA,it's a huge mall now. The Cyclone Truckstop on Highway 30 in Ames,IA, Grandview Corners at Highway 61 & 92,

About 4 years ago I running with a friend down 81 in Va. Exit 195? A couple miles off the hwy was a cool truck stop that had toy trucks all around inside the restraunt. Cant remember the name of it.

Remember if it's got a hood it's no good!

Bosselman's in Des Moines is a Pilot now. The old Truck Haven in Sioux City was tore down and is now a Pilot, too. There was another in Des Moines, Bar B or B Bar B, can't remember, they had their own fuel transport,a restored blue Bullnose KW.

Don't get to many truck stops , but will as we are going to start hauling a little freight. I did get to the I-80 truck stop last year with my daughter while we took a cross country trip. Very impressive for sure! Here is a pic of inside with my daughter standing in front of a truck on display in the accessories shop .

If anyone gets up to Maine , Dysarts Truck Stop off of 95 near Bangor is a great place to eat and buy goodies for the truck. doug

Roadway Truck Stop in Milesburg,Pa. was a good stop good food and garage was always ready to help you out. Boron at old exit 3 on I-80 Barkeyville,Pa. was good. Back in 70's about every exit on I-80 in Penna. had a full service Truck Stop.Anyone remember Snyder's Gateway Truckstop at Breezewood,Pa junction of I-70 and I76 Pa.Tp. good food, garage and bunkhouse was only a few dollars a night. If you slept in your truck fuel guy would come out and wake you up at designated time. They were the good old days. Joe D.

That's Lee Hi at Lexington, on rt.11 between 81 and 64 west. You can go left out of there and go to 64, or right and back to 81.

Oh...already answered. Should have finished reading everything,eh?

Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999.

How about the truckstop in Hurricane, W.V. that had the L.G.B. trains running around the ceiling in the restaurant.

I think the restaurant was called the The Lumberjack restaurant?

Nope, actually just came to me The Paul Bunyun Restaurant!

Ron

The old 76 off hwy 109@I40 in TN was a good one, so was the old Monteagle Truck and auto plaza, nothing but freakin subways and McDonald's at "truck stops" now. I don't think hey should even be called truck stops without 75-80% of their business truck friendly and a subway for food with three sticky tables in the corner and no real parking isn't truck friendly to me.

Here's one for mowerman. Took this one of BOOMTOWN Verdi,Nv. around 1980,when it was still a truck stop. Bob now passes this at least 4 times a day, right Bob? Stopped for lunch there last October. Just a casino now. Not the same, for sure.

Al Boomtown in Nevada and the 49er in Sacramento were owned by same people I think. When I ran Coast if you did not have chains to go over Donner Pass you could rent them on one side and drop off on other.Nothing like the old time truck stops.Joe D.

The Wagon Wheel on 30 in Paradise burned down to the foundation about 2-3 years ago- took my boys out to the steam train with the intention of going there for lunch but had to make alternate plans......

.........or "Where in the Hell is Boondocks,USA?" ...............We were using an old CO-4000 for a yard dog one time and inside was a sticker," I stripped my gears at Dick Drost's Naked City Truck Stop" somewhere in Indiana I think. Always liked that one for some reason! :whistling:

Al,i still have a wooden token from Bill & Effie's BOOMTOWN good for one free cup of coffee (on your next visit!) I haven't been that far west in a few years now,but last time I was there they still had a pretty decent breakfast buffet. The 49'er east of Frisco, was another story! last time in there it was owned by towelheads, filthy showers the restaurant was closed for "remodeling" (de-bugging was my guess) and charged $20.00 per night (non-fueling) to park! haven't been back since!................................Mark
