I'm glad you fellows posted the info about the gold bulldogs, because from driving Macks in the early to mid 70's I remember well that the gold bulldogs indicated a Maxidyne engine. This shows that my memory hasn't entirely failed me....yet. :-)

Give it time, Jeff. Give it time!

Hello!

I read here on the forums, but also in a newspaper article, that the Gold Dog indicated the V-8 engine... But this related to the Superliner. Could the policy be different on different models?

About that raised hood section again - how often do you see it silver? And is it chrome or stainless steel? Isn't there a danger of sun glare this way?

Thanks in advance for the answers and have a nice day

Paweł

Apparently, the gold dog meant different things at different times. All the gold dog does now is make my head hurt to think about it.

Oh, dear God! Here we go again!

PLEASE, read the whole thread...especially SuperDog's excellent summary.

That info should be in the Wiki where it can be readily accessible. The subject will always come up from time to time.

I had a calendar from 1978 that had the three "liners" in it in this paint scheme and the January picture had all three, The Cruiserliner, Superliner & Valueliner lined up. I loved that pic!

You memory may be off a year; here is the January 1979 Mack Calendar:

As the calendars had to be created, edited, printed, and delivered to be ready to disperse the last of November/first of December, it is hard to imagine that these could truly be 1979 Model Macks; more likely 1978 Models.

Enjoy...

Note: My first post here; I hope it works out.
