Mike I don't know much about the new trucks but believe do to the emission stuff now a days they get crap for mileage. I've always thought if I was to go back to hauling I'd rebuild an old R or RW and be ahead of the game. Fuelfull01 is proof to this. He and his brother run all older Superliner and R models Can't beat the 350 mech!

How the hell is he getting 4mpg, my old CH midroof with 3.86 rears and lowpros still gets 6.8 with its new owner. I checked the mileage on the RW on my last show trip, mind you I was bobtailing but I got 14mpg, not bad for a 998cu in V8 from 1985.

The key word in what you said is "old'. I used to get 6+ regularly with my '99 CH condo,427 Etech,13 speed with 3:70's doing the same thing. He has gotten as good as 5.1 but that's it.There is another guy running a '07 Rawhide that runs with us and his mileage is worse than Mikey's but he is still running a muffler. Pretty hard to get fuel mileage and performance out of an engine when your forcing it to eat it's own exhaust. My Dad's '10 MP8 does a little better, but its not great.

Its happening in Cullyfornia, already! Its only a matter of time, sad to say. Remember, they're from the government, they're here to help.......NOT!! sorry,my .02

These newer trucks a crap no matter what brand. I'm in an 07 Pete with a C-15 pre-emissions truck and have very little

trouble with it. A few repairs here and there for a couple hundred bucks and that's about it. Yet we have a 2012 Mack,

two 09 Pete's with Cummins and an 09 Pete with a C-13 Emissions Cat and the buzzers and check engine lights are

on in these trucks every week. You need a full time guy from the Geek Squad on hand with a computer just to keep them

running. Plus I'm getting 5.5 to 6.5 mpg's. The others are getting 4.5 to 5.5. Never understood how these new trucks can

burn more but somehow be cleaner. Seems like if your getting better fuel mileage thats half the battle right there, and

if the truck is easy to work on and cost of ownership is low its a win win. Anybody ever get behind one of these "emissions"

trucks when they are purging? OMG its enough to gag a maggot. Make your eyes water, but somehow that's better.

You're right about that. We have a yard full of trucks with engine lights on, Paccars, Detroits, Maxforces, Cummins- it doesn't matter any more. Jeff Moore finally said he wishes he had kept the 2000 model W900L I used to drive for him and rebuilt it. It had an N14 525 in it with a 13 spd. and 3.70 rears, and there was nothing wrong with it when he traded it for that '06 Peterbilt. I got somewhere around 6 mpg. with it, got about 5 in the Pete with a C15 and 3.55 rears, now I get 5.9 with the Paccar but I have about 100 less horsepower and 3.36 rears. It's a good flat ground truck, but unfortunately I stay in the hills of Va, W.V, Oh, and western Pa. most of the time with heavy loads of steel and lumber.

And like I say it pisses me off they take our money, and it pisses me off even more when they waste it then say they want more to fix the problem. Take my money fix the road and stop giving it to city transit. And if there in gov. there all at fault.
