Rant for the day-

Did anybody happen to see or hear the Nationwide race yesterday? I was listening on the xm in the pickup on the way back from Altavista yesterday. Some rock band sang the national anthem before the start, don't remember their name, i'd never even heard of them before. But it was the worst i'd ever heard- they made Roseanne Barr's version from several years ago sound good. I mean it was barely recognizable- I told Jo that somebody should have been standing off to the side with a big hook on a long pole and snatched the singer away from the microphone. That's one song that I just think should be sung like it's written, especially before a nationally televised event- they can do what they want in their basement.

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith did a fine job of it before, he sounded like Steven Tyler but he sang it like it's supposed to be sung.

Nothing worse then some "singer" or group putting their own twist on the National Anthem. Sing it like it is suppose to be sung. Don't try to be "different".

Local country station used to have the national anthem on every morning at 7am. I had my alarm set for that time, so the radio would kick on. They were sung by various artists, all done solo with no music. Most were just horrible sounding and I finally changed my alarm so I would not have to hear it. Maybe they would sound better in a stadium?

Sad to say but I mute the Anthem because of "artists" that butcher it.

Another vote for singing the National Anthem as written and with respect.

No Pledge of Allegence (spell?) in schools, no American Flags in most class rooms, no respect for God , Country or themselves and others! Just ME , ME , ME!! Taught from pre K on! They want everything from the country and give nothing back . . . least of all respect for those of us who served it and love it. Paul
