I HAD mack factory 4ft whips paired with a cobra nightwatch classic radio and they worked great.....til I knocked em off. Damn you low hanging branches!!!! :)

Ok! I'll find some to calibrate it! Really just wanted to know quality of New Mack antennas! Like I. Said I have STRYKER SR-497HPC 10 METER HAM RADIO, THATS LOUD & VERY POWERFUL!!! IT HAS BEEN ALIGNED/PEAKED/TUNED BY TECH,HIGH OUTPUT,CLEAR AUDIO AND READY TO GO! But I also have a nice Cobra Night-watch radio! So just trying yo see if anyone is running the Mack antennas and how they like them!

I pulled the factory antennas off two Granites and swapped em for Wilson 2000's, made a huge difference on those trucks with my cranked up Cobra 29. On one of the granites the am FM antenna was separate so I went with one Wilson on the other one the amfm used the CB antennas so I put two Wilson's on and matched them up good.

Don't mean to hijack, but while I'm thinking of it,

I have the separate am/fm antenna, and my reception SUCKS!!!!! Mostly am, I do love talk radio, fm isn't too bad.......Would a longer/different antenna help me on that front?

Thanks for the reply! I went to the dealership the other day and looked at the new Granites the way the had the antennas wired it looks like a lot of work to pull them wires and install your own!!! So I guess you right I'll just keep everything stock I just hope Mack used good stuff because communication is Key with me!

  • 6 years later...

Seems like the coaxial cable used in my 2020 Mack Anthem can't support my radio. Running a Cobra 29 peaked and tuned. Gonna be running all new Wilson 18' Super Mini 8 to a single Wilson 2000. Might make a video of what I find and post to youtube. The radio is calibrated and the SWRs are almost flatlined but I can't transmit far at all. Thinking it has to be the coax/ antenna.
