It reminds me of the classic lyrics: "It's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville, with line with a three mile grade"...

For the record - USA is getting all the snow that was meant for central Europe - the spring has come to us two weeks ago, way earlier than usual.

Hope you can make it through the snow and the spring time comes to you eventually, have a nice day

Lyrics[edit]

Well they gave him his orders in Monroe Virginia
Sayin' Steve you're way behind time
This is not 38, this is ole' 97
You must put her into Spencer on time

So he turned around and said to his black greasy fireman
To shovel on a little more the coal
And when we cross that White Oak Mountain
You can watch ole' 97 roll

It's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville
It's a line on a three mile grade
It was on that grade that he lost his airbrakes
You can see what a jump he made

He was goin' down that grade makin' 90 miles an hour
When his whistle broke into a scream
He was found in the wreck with his hand on the throttle
Scalded to death by the steam

So ladies you must take warnin'
From this time on and learn
Never speak harsh words to your true lovin' husbands
They may leave you and never return

I said ladies you must take warnin'
From this time on and learn
Never speak harsh words to your true lovin' husbands
They may leave you and never return, They may leave you and never return

I just went out to scrape the windshield and go to work. I didn't even know it was still sleeting until I went outside. Both doors were frozen shut on the pickup, I chopped my way in with the ax then started to hack about a quarter inch of ice off the windshield. Guess i'll wait a while, but it's not supposed to get over 30 today. 28 now. Stupid ice...

There was a truck driver version of the song "Wreck of Ole 97" it was "Wreck of The Old Slow Binder" by Dave Dudley. It was great also. I used to find it on UTube but it does not come up anymore. I have the album somewhere with a KW COE on the cover. Joe D.

I have a couple of CDs with old truck driving songs, one has the hot girl in short-shorts standing in front of the truck with her thumb in the air. One of my favorites is "Passing Zone Blues". I don't remember who sang it, but he was in Maryland "in the left lane, scraping gears, trying to get up the hill" and gets pulled over. Then he tells the cop "if you'll just let me go i'll crank this smoking Mack, stay behind...won't try to pass..."

An axe, LOL. We got a dusting but my car doesn't need to move until tomorrow night, so I'll leave the jaws of life on the shelf for now.

Over here we have a high of 43 today with high's in the 50's and low's in the upper 30's the rest of the week.

Maybe....just maybe.......
