hicrop10 Posted April 20, 2014 Share Posted April 20, 2014 ChuckP,that was one of Robert T Hawthrones trucks from Philly.They were the largest demo contractor here back in the 70's and 80's.They only ran Macks.Their maintenance program was don't look at it till it stops.I can remember them hauling some demo into a landfill over the bridge in NJ and the airlines on the tractor wasn't even hooked to the trailer,driver said the trailer had to many air leaks,so that was their solution. They use to park in the same yard as us in Mahwah, NJ. When the producer was looking for trucks for the movie he went to Hudson County Motors in Secaucus and they hooked him up with all of the Autocars as the producer liked the look of them. The two red DK Mike Jost Autocars is a friend of ours and also used to park in Mahwah. The B81 was sold to the producer and wound up down in North Carolina for another movie.If you saw Die Hard in the movies the construction scene where Bruce Willis gets into the B81 Iron Horses DM 800 from Oakland NJ goes by with about 30 yards on the truck. It doesn't show up in the dvd I guess with screen formatting it is deleted. The kid who used to drive the B81 had to lay on the floor to shift the quad box in some of the scenes as the union stage drivers couldn't drive the truck. BOB DINGSDALE Posted May 23, 2014 Share Posted May 23, 2014 there was a nice LTL in CORVETTE SUMMER with MARK HAMIL from STAR WARS.Also the Tensky B model having top mounted wipers.Was that some kind of option.I have a Mack AD with a flett of B63S log trucks in ORE. all having top mouted wipers and no sign of holes for bottom mounts.
