Tragic. I heard it on the news and KNEW it was going to be a bad story for the truck driver no matter what. Even when he gets cleared, it will ALWAYS be remembered as the "truck killed the people. Not the fact someone else caused it.

Thanks for the info Bob. I figured it was not what the media said. Paul

Sad that it seems the trucker is always the villiian in accidents like these.. Too bad the media is so fast to report a story they don't let facts get in the way..

Bob,first of all I am sorry for you losing a fellow trucker,a brother,in yet another misreported crash. You were the first person I thought about when hearing of the FedEx truck in California,as I know you spend a lot of time in that state. Although I was much relieved it was not you in that FedEx truck, I pray for the family of the fallen driver. The general public will never understand the job of the people who bring there very life to them each day,and what it means to that individual. The medias crap is nothing new,as it bounces off most of us (although we are pissed about it). We know the real deal about the countless numbers of drivers who have ditched it or died, saving another motorists life. However, these are never reported. Al

The media is very quick to sensationalize any story. And "an out of control truck careened into a bus full of high school students" is much more sensational than "truck struck by car then hits bus". I've long been a critic of the media, since my late teens when I got involved in emergency services, and I typically take anything reported with a grain of salt but sadly this time I was on board with what was first reported because of the run of bad luck Fed Ex has had over the past several months with high profile crashes in my part of the country. Those of you out west, please keep us up on this story as it continues.

The media also likes to refer to drivers of pickup trucks as truck drivers.
