1950 F7 started the F Series line

F series made its debut in 1948. I learned how to drive a "non-syncro" in a 48 F-5. Ex State of Conn Highway dump. I'm a 16 year old kid and my mason contractor uncle gives me the five minute driver training speech and I'm off on my first load. Had trouble upshifting! As he explained to me on second trip- "dummy-you only touch the gas when DOWNSHIFTING"!

this is the only picture I have handy of a red ford, I bought this 80 used in 84 and drove it every day until 2002 then semi retired it in 280,000 miles it never made me walk! have two other red fords a 48 f-6 flatbed dump and a 64 f 856 super duty 4-5 yd dump 534-5x2

Nice-howabout a picture of the F-850. 4-5 yard body on a 534 powered 850 is about half a load! In my youth I pulled out of a quarry in Conn and local ready-mix outfit had an F-1000, 534 powered. Single axle that had a 10' box with about a 10 yard water level body. Level load of 3/4 stone in that truck was about 15 ton payload

Old "Mini Attack" MA-10 1989 Ford F-350/Saulsbury 750gpm/150gal/30gal foam. 1000ft 4in supply line.

New "Mini Attack" MA-10 2012 Ford F-550/Firematic 1000gpm/300gal/20gal foam. 800ft 5in supply line.

R-36 1990 Ford L8000/Saulsbury walk in heavy rescue with all the usual goodies.

Well you made me dig out my "Ford Trucks since 1905" by J K Wagner. Great book. I could only find record of 6V-53's being offered in F and T series from 67 on. In any case, that super clean red T that OtherDog posted doesn't have raised roof so it is a pre 66. And for sure Wagner only lists the V-6 Cummins and the C-160/C-180 6 cyl Cummins.

I didn't know that either, I heard it running and thought somebody had swapped a 318 Detroit in it. I took a short video of it last year, but I might have deleted it.

My dealer spec book shows the 6-53N a limited F/T series option after August 1966, which is close to the model year production shift. It also shows from 1963 to 1966 on C, F,N and P (parcel chassis) there was a a English made Dagenham 330-cid 6 cylinder Diesel or a Dorset 363-cid 6 cylinder Diesel available for "Municipal Contract Trucks only" ( state and county trucks? ) Hollander Interchange show a D.D. 6V series interchange with the Dagenham with a FoMoCo conversion kit which it shows consists of mounts, linkage, coolant hoses, head pipe, Starter assembly and a misc hardware kit. After years anything is possible i suppose. Paul
