FOR SALE What to do with neglected 69 Brockway?

My father planned to fix this old truck up but never quite found the time. Now he needs to get rid of it and doesn't want it to end up in the scrap yard. Is this truck worth saving? Or would someone buy it for the parts? I'm getting an estimate from the scrap folks and won't be able to accept less than that. It would sure make an old man happy if someone bought it and fixed it up and then sent him a picture when they were done. Or maybe just a picture of a truck its parts ended up in. The truck is located in Inkster, Michigan. And yes, that is a tree that grew up through the middle of it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Looks like it's been there a while. How long has it been since it ran? Might be worth saving, but you don't know unless you see it first hand.. I'm across the river near Windsor if I was going over to Detroit any time soon I'd come by and look at it. Looks like it could be a cool project. Just a guess going from what scrap prices been lately I'd say a generous scrap price would be around $1200. If you don't get any interest from anyone on here in time I'll give you a number for a in Westland that buys and sells trucks and old Equiptment he might be able to help you out but if some one on here can make use of it and maybe save it by buying it from you we'll leave the middle man out of it. And it would be a shame to see the scrapers get it.

Try the Brockway folks at the Museum in Cortlandt, NY perhaps they know of a Brocky guy in your area that may want it. Also there is a Brockway Facebook page, you might try posting there as well.

Thanks for all the comments and advice! We tried the Brockway museum folks awhile ago before but never heard back from them. Will try again. Will also check out the facebook page. And I will definitely ask for the number of that guy in Westland if we aren't able to find someone to buy it.

RE: The last time it ran. I don't think the truck has been run on the road since the late 80's . It was used to move steel around a yard for awhile after that. I'd guess the last time it ran at all was in the mid nineties.

RE: colors. Yeah, my dad had it painted to match those posters. I can remember putting together a puzzle of a Brockway truck with those same colors when I was a kid.

glad you are trying to save it. Unfortunately most of the Brockway collectors are in the northeast but there are exceptions. A friend of mine posted it on the brockway site so those guys will see it. Any chance you could post serial number? Most likely truck was sold at D&H truck sales in dearborn,MI. I have a 761 Brockway tilt hood that went through there. Anyway good luck...........Brian

D&H used to have a lot of goodies in the back before Mr Weldon sold the dealership a few years back. As far as I know he still hangs out in the building behind that he still owns and still has a warehouse of goodies. He's getting up in age and was still around there a year or so ago when I was last around there. He always seemed like a good guy to talk to and buy from but a lot of guys said they couldn't buy anything from him. I guess it just depended if he liked you or not maybe. I used to lease a truck on with some people in Westland,Mi that bought Mack's and KW's from him for years so maybe that helped. I should take a field trip over there to see if he's still around I used to have his number but I lost it. Maybe go have a look at this Brock too.

My B Model was in just as bad condition, but I'm restoring it. If you can get it loose from that tree and get the engine running, I know someone out there will want it.

The VIN is N359TL268606. It was purchased from an auction in 1984. The original owner was Spartan Contracting & Fabricating, but the invoice was from Robert Williams & Co. I'm assuming that was the auction house.

The plant that the truck is parked at is closed down and the gate is usually locked over there. It's at 2830 Beech Daly. Just give me a little heads up if you take that field trip so that I can meet you there and let you in.

I sure wish it was closer! Huskypups are getting scarce these days,especially 359's I thought the same thing when I saw the colors,reminded me of the old OVERDRIVE cover truck................................................Mark

It is a cummins with 'n' designation. I imagine it is a 230 or 250 non turbo. Thanks for the serial number...Brian

serial number would be 68606, model n359 tl 2 . It should be a 68 but may be 69 due to when sold etc.

there are 3 Brockway pages on Facebook. .. just type in Brockway in the search box and they should show up, and you can place it there I believe
