I have a 2002 Ranger, good little truck. I used to complain because it doesn't have enough power to get out of it's own way,it'a 4 cyl. with a 5 speed-but it gets about 29 mpg,so i'm not complaining anymore.

When my office manager passed away unexpectedly at 48 one day, I inherited his 1990 Ford Ranger with a 2.3 and five speed. I used it as a shop truck for a couple of years until the cab would no longer remain attached to the frame from rust, then scrapped it after I sold the 245,000 mile engine/trans to a guy for twice what it was worth. It still ran perfect, and did not use oil between 5000 mile oil change.

I don't have anything negative to say about Rangers! This one sure served us well and averaged 24-25 miles per gallon. It ran well until it was loaded past 750 pounds in the bed.

I've got a one ton Dodge w/V-10 engine that averages 11 miles per gallon. It doesn't get driven much for obvious reasons relating to economy. I've got to get a more economical truck to run around in.

I got an Escort wagon(1.9/automatic) and I curse the day I would have to drive a (&$#* box like this everyday. I hate it........but it's the only way I can survive and have a few bucks to play with. At 3 times the fuel mileage of my old pickup it was a mandatory investment.

I think I would like it better if it was a 5 spd! It would be a bit more fun to drive.

...sounds kinda like my Ranger-it's got a 5 speed, but if it had a 2 speed rear it'd be way more fun to drive

I've got a Ranger too- a '98 4x4 with the 3 liter V6 and automatic. The thing is unstoppable- when we get heavy snow I take it out and break trails for the neighbors with two wheel drives. Throw a thousand pounds in the back and it barely notices. Unbreakable too- at 85,000 miles all I've paid for was rear brake shoes and a new battery; Ford gave me new tires at 65,000 miles to replace the recalled Firestones. Gas mileage could be better though- due to my gimpy leg I got an automatic and the best it does is 20-22 on the highway. I've got a VW diesel car too now so I only drive the Ranger a thousand miles or so a year when the snows deep or I've got stuff to haul that won't fit in the car. Looks like my Ranger will probably be running longer than I will!

wonder how many could drive a 5 & 4 in todays world in class 8 truck let alone in a ranger ? that would be an interesting sight wouldnt it ? a 5&4 in a ranger..... kinda reminds me of the 4&2 or 5&2 in the chevy p/u on youtube w/ the 453T Detroit in in it

We got lots of rain here, but nothing like they did to the south & west of here, that's where a lot of people lost their homes.

The Fox River was just about out of it's banks coming thru this area due to all the rain upstream.

Last week the boss sent me out with a load of sand that was to be used for sandbags around an apartment complex right down next to the river. Had to wait for the customer to show up and I had a chance to survey the situation. At that point the water was a couple of inches from running over the parking lot, and the apartments had an underground parking garage!

It was just awesome the way that river was moving, the sound was like a constant roaring from the water swirling around some bridge columns right near there. Scary actually.

I've lived here for 23 years and never saw it that bad.

Glad to hear all is well I seen on the news where it was flooed up there & thought bought you & yours

My dad & granddad used to farm some bottom land next to the "oldman" River & ive the bottoms flood many times before but never like it had this past sping

they say here it is not gonna affect us here THIS TIME but in the spring when the Ms river flooded i had a buddy lose close to 1,000 acres of wheat in the bottom he said he hoped his crop insurance would kick in he has since replanted w/ Soybeans

I Bet is still a bunch of sandbagging going on there what tripped me out was when i watched the news 1 night & seen a house BREAK OFF IN HALF & float down the river

HOPE ALL IS GOOD

Later yall & have a safeone hand
