Wouldnt this be an awesome combo? I have heard from a very reliable source that Mack manufactured E9's with an Allison-Autos. I heard these trucks were used in airports. Anyone else heard of this?

Sounds like a waste of a good E9, putting an automatic behind it.

I have seen off road log trucks with the big allison nothing else !They even had problems getting that to stand up behind E9 the torque and rpm range was way to low They finally got it to work thou and it was just fine power wise As the big tranys go into lock up as well as have a manual lock up ,the beauty with the big allison is the built in retarder which helped the E9 loads because of the poor engine brake quallitys
