drove many 300/6 speed 4.17 rears on camelback R models with chrome dogs... this were in the 1985-1992 range. My 77 RS700L has a gold dog I think people like to change the dogs for preference. For me I prefer the Gold Dog

Besides all of the Mack controlled reasons as to why the Bulldog is chrome or gold....It was an available option. The Dealer could order it or leave it chrome. Our '97 CH with both Eaton axles and Fuller trans was ordered with a Gold Dog just because we wanted it.

I have a '90 ch elite interior with all mack, that came with a chrome dog. '95 RD all mack except for a 8ll and that has a chrome dog. '96 CL elite has all mack components has all dogs gold along with my '01CL elite. Ordered a new Titan all "mack" components..... We'll see what that has.
