I need to ask,

If my truck has a 285/70/r17(stock) can I use 275/55r17 size on it? It's a dodge 2500 2010 cummins.

I know I know.... Just not well versed in tires and someone just gave me 5 brand new tires for fixing an egr cooler.

Helpppppp! :)

Thanks y'all's!

Here's a comparison of the two sizes. You can see the speedometer will be off and you will use more RPMs to get the correct speed. Your truck computer may adjust or maybe it can be programed to the new size. One other consideration is the ride with less sidewall and the new tire not being mounted on the correct width rim. Below came from a google search comparing the two sizes.

I doubt they will have the same load rating either, don't know how much you load your truck but it may be a better idea to use them as trading material to get the right size.
