LOL. Try getting parts for older "first generation" John Deere's. You see, JD had the foresight to "reuse" older model numbers. Try explaining that to a 25 year old parts guy. Yes JD did make a 5020 back in the 60's. A GOOD PARTS PERSON IS WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another was the 830. There were two of those too.

the road I live on is about 3/4 of a mile long and had a 830 john deere on each end of the road for a while. one 3 cyl. diesel from the 80's and a 2cyl. diesel from the 50's.

Yes trying to find a good parts person is like trying to find a honest politician !!

Deere also made an 820 3 cylinder....then there is the 4320 (the real one) and a compact one.

I saw a 2 cyl. 830 at the antique tractor pull in Stonewall,Va. one time. Looked like it was straight off the farm. It and a fine looking restored Super M made full pulls, added more weight to the sled, both made a full pull, added all the weight they had, full pulls, then all the guys that could get in the weight box got in it. Finally stopped the Super M, but the 830 just kept chugging on.Best tractor pull I ever saw.
