My wifes enlightenment

My wife is working with a few of the new hire nurses for the Visiting Nurses. Most are fresh from school or have limited field experience. She told me that 95% are arrogant, think they are smarter and superior to everybody and know all there is to know about everything. If there is a problem it is caused by anyone but them. Nothing is their fault. She says they feel they are entitled to top salary, instant respect and for people to follow their ideas because they are who they are.

I had one question after her rant "are you working with Obamamama?" That was followed by an entirely new rant. Paul

Remember apprenticeships. You work along side to learn your trade which earned there respect then your wage if they were good enough. If not they were moved on to some thing else.

That is funny and I thought I might have been the only person doing that. I've married and dated Bankers. Now a school teacher. School teachers are taking all kinds of crap in this country. But at least this woman has a heart i'm now dating.

Apparently now, you come out of school, do an internship and than start at the very top rung of the ladder. Seem to me all they learn now is how to push off responsibility for their mistakes or lack of knowledge on other people, text and whine. IMO Paul

Pretty much. I've known kids myself who had everything they ever had handed to them, didn't have to work for a thing, and wrecked every vehicle they ever had- which was given to them, they didn't have to buy it themselves. I had to graduate high school, get a job, and buy my own car before I could wreck it.

And i've known parents that told their kids right from the start that they were better than everyone else, they were special, they were wonderful, their doo-doo didn't have an unpleasant odor, and on and on. No, you're really not- you're no better than anybody else. You're just gonna be an adult asshole.

I try to learn all I can from older guys .

Most guys my age and younger don't want to even work

All depends I guess. Nurses like anything else - some good, some bad.

My middle daughter graduated 6 months ago with a DNP (Doctor of Nurse Practice) and is now a CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist.) Knock you out for surgery and bring you back.

7 years of really tough, no bullshit college course work you can't fake your way through. And she has $150K student loan debt since they get no pay during internship and have to cover their own cost of living.

The really good news, her first job starting pay is $85. / hour with as many hours as she wants. Yowza. I'm sure as hell not smart enough that I could ever do what she did and we are super proud of her. Glad there is at least one smart one in the family. ;-)

Nurses! my wife is also an RN,senior in charge of the nursing staff at an area hospital specializing in pediatrics,she is also in charge of training all new nurses in procedures,ethics,patient care etc. Almost ALL the new nurses fresh out of school have some type attitude according to her,"not my job" "why do I have to do that?" etc. thank god I married a Jersey Girl with attitude of her own! "because I EFFING told you to do it,thats why!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Mrs Vision is like me,very little tolerance for BS! especially at the workplace! Its true though,they all feel they deserve top pay,all the perks,right out of the gate,my beloved yankee wife has sent more then a few home crying,or thinking of a career change!...........................................Mark

I went up through the ranks, both in the kitchen when I was a dishwasher at 13, and when I was an Ironworker apprentice at 18, I am only 32 now but Damn it i feel like an oldtimer with the self entitled little bastards I see on the job these days. I have said it before and I will say it again, I hate people my age....there are few and far my age that work there balls off for what they want. My grandfather worked for himself, so did my dad, that is where I got the drive from. As much as I will say my wifes family will never understand self employment, my mother in law is a nurse of over 30 years, and draws parallels to what we do every time I talk to her. Same thing, 20 something little girls fresh out of school with an attitude and an air of arrogance about them, but when the shit hits the fan they crumble. I still learn every day and am grateful for the guys that have the knowledge and are willing to share it, knowing full well that when they are gone so is what is in there permanent file. I wish m grandfather was still around, because there are still volumes of which I could learn. Dont take a guy willing to show you for granted, be a sponge and suck up every drop. Just my 2 cents, from a guy that is in the age bracket everyone hates including me.

My wife is a Polish German farm girl, Not afraid to get dirty and takes no crap from anyone...me included. 20 years old and helping me put a clutch in my Challenger in the dirt at New York National Speedway. At 61 years old helping me pull the drum of my mixer, she puts the trainees in their place or fires terminates their training session.

I'm 35 and have very few friends within 5 years of my age, most are over 40. I got nothing in common with most of the lazy ass hand it to me club crowd. I've worked my ass off my whole life, never been on unemployment, never been out of work more than a week, folks 5 years younger than me drive me nuts.

This as my wife sees it is the biggest cause of our problems. Not much of importance IS taught in our schools nowadays. But Johnny IS allowed to have an "alternate" correct answer to a math problem, or an "alternate" spelling of a word and EVERYONE is above average. There are no more wrong answers, just different ways to look at things. It's no wonder we have a population wanting to "do its own thing" and have everything handed to them on a silver platter. The ability to apply logic and critical thinking to problems or situations is long gone; replaced by "who's gonna' do that for me" and "shouldn't the government pay for that for me. We now have a parasite population that sees successful people as villains and failures as heroes. We now has a government the thrives on this by giving more and more entitlements and incentive to be lazy and privileged above the people who pay the bills. Paul
