ANY U or Dm makes getting in and out kinda tricky. drive one for a day , then and R model and you will be second guessin your steps

And if you survive that, then try climbing into a cabover with a setback front axle and the steps in front of the front axle. It's like trying to climb into the passenger side of a "normal" cabover except the door hinge is on the wrong jamb.

Try getting in and out of a "U" model with an "R" model door threshold in it!!

That's not nice!

Jim

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

attachicon.giforiginal.jpgWhat's with the cab, never saw one like that before?

Similar work to some of the customized Macks in Europe.

I thought the main reason for the U was to give the driver room away from the doghouse, and the better left side visibility was an added feature.

Does that Mayberry rig have an F model cab. I often wondered why Mack didn't use the F model cab for a conventional since the other manufacturers of the time were going to larger cabs. Mack didn't go to a larger cab until the CH almost 20 years behind the the competition(ford L. GMC, IH, white/autocar. I guess Paccar was another smaller cab exception,
