First time ever owning a Mack. I really like the truck, its a 07 chn613 with a 460 18 spd and 410 gears. I pull heavy/oversize mostly on the interstate. Just looking for more pep. When i approach a hill loaded i drop gears quick. Mack dealer mechanic says that if it is within factory specs that is the best it can do. I never heard of an engine that could not be improved somehow. maybe a computer update, bigger injectors, or something? Diesel doctor in Mt. Vernon Ill. says he cant help either. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately with the engine you have I don't believe there is anything you can do except see if it has step 12b programming in the vecu and the latest software and data file in the eecu. Your Mack dealer can call tech support with your vin and find out what it has in it. We charge 3 hours to reflash and program both ecu's. I do not know of any aftermarket upgrades for these engines. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input guys. I took the truck to Mack dealer in Nashville near home with this complaint. This truck only has 320000 original miles so i had them 1st run the overhead because i dont know if or when it was done before. Next they installed the latest and best programs available from Mack. Then they discovered very low fuel pressure so they replaced the fuel pump. They checked and found no air leaks in the air to air & hoses etc. I then took the truck and went back to work. I noticed a big improvement in power and almost a mpg improvement. However i still think there may be an issue with the turbo or injectors because the boost pressure loaded is usually around 26lbs but at 1400 to 1500 rpms it will go up to around 30lbs. I just think it should hold 30lbs of boost all the way up to 1800 rpms. But we are moving in the right direction.

New Injectors would be the next step , rochester has upgrades for you just ask. The low milage means truck has sat for along time also = this is why you have fuel issues . Then if you want to go big time call Illionois dyno and open up the module , last time I check about $1800 on module . Will have to watch EGT though very easy to crack heads/exhaust manifolds with more power.
