Looks like I need to change it. can move it about 1/8 inch by hand.

Looks like: remove U-joint, pull large nut, slide off yoke, slide off bearing

reverse process. Will change out u-joint at the same time.

Is that it? is there more to it? Torque for the nut?

Have the tools...ambition is questionable

Time the yoke? you mean make sure it is in line with the rest of the u-joints?

Torch? well that changes things

Best thing to do is mark the joint before removal so it will go back in the exact location. Sometimes even timed but 180 degrees off can cause a vibration problem.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

When you pull the yoke from the shaft to remove the brg make sure the yoke goes back on in time and that would be lining it up with the yoke on the other end of that shaft. Not the shaft that connects to this shaft.

UPDATE!!!

Everything went well for removal. Bearing basically slid right off

Biggest problem was one bolt that holds bearing to hangar was buggered. Had to cut and then get new bolts.

Things did get moved around and I ended up with the yoke off by one notch. Vibration. redid it

I still have a slight vibration. Was told that the transmission yoke and rear end yoke should be same. as in, both are caps up, not cap on one end strap on the other. Have two u-joints in between.

Thanks for all the help....Ed

took a Friday off-just in case.

Was home at lunchtime

BUT, y'all didn't answer the question

Transmission yoke and axle yoke should match. If one is vertical then the other should be vertical at the same time.

Is that the one???

Bedtime reading.
