Saw a video last week where a guy stuck an acetylene torch in a tire and turned the acetylene on for a few seconds, then lit it. Worked great, you could go that route.

I was only reading the dern thing 'cuz I heard a rumor that they were cutting back on the ether to make it more difficult to use for tire seating...ended up buying a different brand that said it has a high ether content.

It doesn't seem to be as powerful now as it used to be. A little bit too much used to lock an engine up pretty quick, now they'll spray half a can in at the shop trying to get one started after they change a fuel filter. They also use it for mounting tires and for hand cleaner. And when they turn an empty plastic pop bottle upside down and put acetylene and oxygen in it and quickly screw the top back on it they would spray a trail of starting fluid to it and light it, creating a loud explosion when the bottle melted through. No wonder we go through so much starting fluid!

Most starting fluid has some oil in it. Check the label on the can. Pure ether will definitely lock an engine PDQ.

And Rowdy....if we didn't have all this legalize crap...what would the lawyers do?
