I started out in June or July looking for a cheap old truck to pull a lowboy and haul my dozer. I called about an ad in the paper for an old mack sitting in a barn. I was not necessarily looking for a mack but I found a 1970 R700 that was parked in a barn since 1991. It needed a few things but was in great shape for the age. We actually pull started the old mack and I drove it home 30 miles that day. Then a month later I found a good buy on a 91' DM690S tri axle dump, and then I found another deal on a 90' CH613 with only 152k miles on it and it's going to be my new lowboy truck. It has a NHC250 Cummins and a triplex 13 speed twin stick transmission, I'm still trying to learn how to drive it. I can get it from point a to b but I still need more practice on it. I am still new to this so I don't know what engine it has for sure, it's a mack engine and trans. There are 5 gears on the bottom side and then when I flip into high I went straight up and got one then went right back down and found a gear so I'm thinking a 7 spd but not sure? That's how I've been driving it anyway. It has got some trans issues, when you flip the switch from low to high or high to low it growls and takes a couple seconds but finally switches. Actually it's got a lot of issues, it was used as a site truck on a large pond building project for the past year and hasn't been on the road for over a year so a few things have been let go and need attention. It needs brakes, tires, lights, several air leaks fixed, and a few other small things to be DOT legal so it's a work in progress. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
