Those fenders almost look like what they used on the front wheel drive units?? Did that one have super heavy big springs on the steering axle??

I'D SAY SO MATE! GOT NO REAL INFO ON IT! IF SOMEONE PLEASE SHARE WITH US. MICK :D

:mack1:

From the R700 pics that I have seen it looks like they changed the forward cab mount in '77 or '78. That may have raised the cab another 3 or 4 inches thus the deeper fender. The top of the fender still followed the hood crease.

The Western long hoods are another story all together.

BORROWED OF COURSE :whistling:

CHECK OUT THE "WIDOW MAKER" PARKED IN FRONT IN FIRST PIC!

notice in the second pic the there are 2 R 700's one with normal mud guard height the other looking as ugly as a hat full of a$$holes

dont no why the made the earlier ones that way but as far as I know all fiberglass bonnets were made in Australia they might have been specials for Brambles to give more strength for off road as these trucks spent a lot of time off road

Paul

@ paul the first glass bonnets were imported from the states ,they had to be reinforced for the aussie roads or lack of .the brambles and Aitken transport bonnets were specially modified in Brisbane by ............ old timers has kicked in as they were the manufactures for the bonnets steve

Seemed to me after the RS/RL 700's were discontinued (retired by the Super-Liner),the R-700's got a "body lift" that made them sit like a RS/RL 700. I don't know?

IF YOU BOUGHT IT, A TRUCK BROUGHT IT..AND WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH IT, A TRUCK WILL HAUL IT AWAY!!! Big John Trimble,WRVA
