I forgot to mention it, but PAI is actually more expensive than OEM?! PAI ETC-8246 is $3,722.65 at cost vs the OEM turbo at $3123.31 at cost. I rounded up the price to account for tax and whatever markup the dealer "graciously" applies. Wow.

The OEM turbo is available in warehouses as well, any dealer could get next weekday but with a nasty freight charge.

humm! Well all I could find is  MAK691GC49M the controller  at pai !  does the actuator kit have a number???

Thank you, Hines and Joey, fjh the stuff with my dad got me a little sideways. I can’t even think straight so you think I need an entire turbo not just the actuator. I know you probably told me somewhere in the reading already. I said I can’t even think appreciate your hard work this damn truck running like a scalded dog today only puff smoke a couple times maybe the calm before the storm

More shitty stuff to deal with Mannnn! you got it bad!

The turbo would kill two birds one stone the controller appears to be working ! Your call its four grand make sure you get gaskets if you go that route! not sure that they will supply with  the turbo!

That's the same story, cost is higher on PAI than OEM... The actuator number on the turboturbos site only crosses to the position sensor and not the VGT itself. Safe to say I doubt Mack ever offered it separately.

The controller is also available in OEM warehouses.

I'm sorry to hear that about your family situation. I'm no stranger to heartache caused by family illness, lost my dad last year, and my mom had a stroke almost two months ago. Prayers for a swift recovery on his part.

If you go the whole turbo route, I'd recommend getting the turbo mount and drain gaskets. I don't have any pulling power at any dealers local to you, so I doubt mentioning me would help at all haha. Maybe if you ask kindly they'd be kind to you. I don't know if I can take an order over the phone here, we've had scammers try it enough that management doesn't like us taking cards over the phone; I'd love to help you out if I could!

What state u in bub

I'm in NC. I'm checking with management to see if it's possible I could sell to someone out of state. I can get one from another location with no freight other than shipping to you. Just waiting to get the ok before I'd go any further.

It’s no rush bud. I still gotta figure out all kinds of things. If you get the OK then I’ll work on it. I’ll have to go to the bank for this one.

Sadly I was denied the ability to sell out of state without a customer account... Best bet would be your local dealer for the whole turbo. Hope all goes well.

Yup I’ve been kinda wrapped up in getting a fix for you and have negated the other stuff you’ve been facing! You’re getting it from all directions at the moment! All the best to you and your loved ones hopefully a speedy recovery! Or at least a positive outcome!

It's dumb but I don't blame them entirely. The rule was made because someone stole a credit card and had one of our front counter guys order a lot of parts for their truck. Salesperson called many times telling them the parts were here, only to get a call from the bank about a fraudulent charge being made here. Thankfully the salesperson kept record of everything including who called, or it would have been a major investigation into him and our company.

No sh!t ??  Bypassed,  ok..  the air line going to the turbo should be a #4 stainless braided line.  I wish i had a bunch of pictures of a complete  AC engine.

A little late to the Party, but the Googleweb is a great friend, sometimes. Punched in "Mack AC400 Engine" on an image search and was met with more than a few choices on pictures of engines minus truck frames in the way...

This is one of those threads where a handful of us try to help a guy who is really working hard to fix his truck and has the respect to keep in touch with those of us that take the time to share our knowledge...   BMT is a great place and a great tool..   Jojo

Yes, I appreciate everyone of you very much. I’ve been kind of out of the loop today some I’ve been trying to work and deal with my dad Hines man fantastic. It doesn’t matter that we couldn’t do it. What matters is that you tried so hard Joe and fjh guys, I can’t thank you enough. Everybody’s just going above and beyond to try to help me a lot. Means the world to me and I hope you’ll continue if I have questions and if you ever need me for anything you got it I’ll do everything I can thank you
