Mack Truck literate. Computer illiterate.

Now that this thread has buried itself in the bottom of the gutter....I will try to drag it up a few notches to get some fresh air. :whistling:

Who is planning/thinking about "camping" at the show? As I mentioned, I have room reservations at the Best Western but am considering "camping" in my trailer. I am going to call HQ and ask about trailer parking, electrical hookup, and cooking. I see there is a truck wash service available and also water/hose hookup for DIY. At this time I am planning to arrive on Wednesday but may arrive Tuesday if I decide to "rough it".

P.S. Yardo (pimp I mean PSM)....I may need a NIT assistant. The slope is slippery so back into the depths of the gutter we go.

"IF" I make it, I'll be staying in my trailer. Don't really need to put it in the camp grounds as I've done in previous shows. I've got enough provisions to survive(ie: water, my own genset, food). I've got a 24ft awning to sit under if it is sunny out. When at the races, I'm the hangout for my buddies with open trailers.

My recent WOT shows camping with full hookups(limited space) and no hook ups. I'll just leave my trailer on and stay on the show grounds. Will I pay the $25 a night to stay "in my truck"? Likely not.

My plans are still up in the air,but as of right now,I plan on staying in the Allentown Hilton. As far as cooking goes, the bunch from our local chapter have always had set up a grill and cooked at least one meal a day on the grounds,as I know others have too, never will forget West Springfield, was riding around with a couple friends from Louisiana, and ending up eating with them and some of their group, never dreamed of eating fried alligator in Mass.

Let me know what you find out, I WILL bring the camper, whether the SuperDog or the SuperChev pulls it is another story...

My brother and I were thinking about going to York and Macungie but don't want to drive out twice, is there any place to park 2 trucks and a trailer so we don't have to drive them back from York. Thanks Ron

As I posted previously, I "believe" Roger Gerhart said people could park their trucks at his place. But I don't want to speak for him so best contact Roger or hopefully Doug Maney will see this message/thread and provide confirmation/information.

Several folks have messaged me here or on FB asking this very question. I have also heard the same rumor- Gerharts, with no indoor storage. (RUMOR!!! I would call there to confirm....)

I would also suggest asking Doug Maney or Mike Yarnall as I know they both have big places and **MAY** offer some indoor or outdoor space, or could offer some suggestions as they live closer to York than I do.

It has also been suggested that perhaps the Mack Museum would let guys store rigs there (outdoors.) I would contact Rick Schumaker for further info. Doug Maney may also have some insight on this.

TWO STROKES ARE FOR GARDEN TOOLS

I called the "powers" in KC for clarification. Each person must register ($25 per) and then $15/truck plus $15 per trailer (if in the display area - hooked together)($55 total w/trailer, $40 w/o trailer). There is off-site, no cost trailer parking. This is getting complicated. I am thinking, register ($25), truck ($15), and camping with hook-up ($45 per night = $180) for a grand total of $220. Then provide sleeping space for anyone who does not want to pay the $25 in-truck sleeping. You must provide your own bedding. However monetary donations will be accepted or NOS MH parts. Cooking and generators are allowed in the camping area and show field. The food vendors are to be open to serve breakfast. Showers are available 24 hours.

I could just register the truck and trailer ($30), sleep in the trailer, and bring my little generator. Does anyone know if the "ATHS police" will "arrest/fine" you if one does not pay for in-truck sleeping?

Now I am confused.

^^My thoughts too. How are they going to "police" the sleeping in trucks? Anyone caught on the grounds after closing who doesn't know the Secret Handshake will be escorted away??? Minumum 4 nights in campground? Ya, $180. Not! Beside I won't be sleeping "in the truck" technically.

If you park next to me, I have the Onan genset on the truck and can provide nice, quiet power. This providing I make it there!

You will have to contact Mike H Superdog directly to get an honest answer to your questions..I Know He stayed in the Bulldog Hilton last year at Springfield MO and may not want to put all that info out in public.

Mike stayed in his truck at South Bend also. Don't recall, but don't think they were charging to sleep in your truck back then? I think that has just started more recently. Anything to get MORE MONEY out of you. Getting to be just like the guberment. Pretty soon they will charge you to breathe the air while on the fairgrounds.

Not wanting to start a "verbal war" but it seems ridiculous to charge a participant registration fee and then a show vehicle fee. Kudos to ATCA for just charging one fee per vehicle. ATCA charge is $30 for tractor/trailer whereas ATHS is $30 plus $25. I am beginning to agree, ATHS is like the guberment. Oh well, it is what it is. Likely the only time I will be attending a national ATHS show (at least until 2018).

Ya, not that I don't want to support "my organization", but we're all not trucking company moguls. I'm paying to park my truck, I'm paying to bring myself in the gate. Now you want me to pay to lay my head down in my own truck. Ahhh, that ain't right. I bought and paid for my trailer so I don't have to pay to sleep. I've always put the trailer out in the parking lot/field, but sure would be nice to just have it with my truck. Stomping through 12" wet grass every day at South Bend got real old by the third day.

Not to defend ATHS, But the thinking behind the charge to sleep is to cover the additional facilities rental cost to include the use of the showers.. AND Johnson as usual went way overboard!!! The non fueling price of a shower at a truck stop is only in the $10 range. Board member Rick Knox brought this up last year, but did not get anywhere in lowering it..

Maybe with the new management AND if you could get enough people to complain to their RVP it could get changed by 2016.

Made my reservations this morning and (...drum roll...) I am staying at the Best Western - not the Great Dane Hilton. Registered both the MH and trailer for the outdoor show field. I do plan to bring a grill/stove to cook some grub and a portable generator just in case. Thinking about a mattress (or just use furniture pads) for an afternoon nap. Will have my bicycle so I can peddle pedal my a-double-s around.

Looking forward to the show and seeing bunches of you all there. We will have a Saturday nooner mug shot for the BMT group.
