Was talking to a guy today about different trucks and stuff and the topic of transmissions came up. He told me that when the first 550 cats, not a clue about time frame here, 80s, 90s,....70s??? that eaton fuller didn't make a trans. rated for the torque of that motor yet. He was told that a limited number of trucks, Pete, Kenworth came out with Mack 18 speeds in them. I've never heard tales of this, and I don't want to be the only one out here with this buggin me. Guy's a pretty straight up person so I really don't think he's pullin' my chain. Bad info to him?? Beats me. Just had some time, thought I'd throw it out there.

I've never heard of a Mack trans in a paccar but crazier things have happened, the first Cat 550's would have been 3406E models in the mid to late 90's The Cat 550's use an Eaton 18918 or other 18 series transmission, the 600 and 625 use the 20918 its got a bigger input shaft.
