Just bought this beautiful truck!! I was told it was a '56 found it to be an '58. The question I have is, did the '58 C85's come with the square headlights? I will post more about this truck after the Thanksgiving Holiday. Hope all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!

Good lookin' fire truck. I don't think the mirrors are original since that style came in the late 60s or early 70s. I think GM was the first to use that style on their pickups.

I agree, not many can say they own a fire truck.

Nice truck but, please, lose the square headlights, definitely not original. During my career, I drove a 1959 Mack "C-85F" ladder truck. It had dual headlights and the '58s did also.

If you can, obtain a copy of Harvey Eckart's book, "Mack Model C Fire Trucks, 1957 - 1967 Photo Archive". It shows the different single and dual headlight setups that Mack used.

Early FDNY "C"s and a few others had single headlights. Do you know what departments your Mack served?

Sorry it been a while. I have done some talking to people and have found out that the truck was bought new by the city. In the early 80's it was sent to F.A.C.T in Wichita Falls Texas to be rebuilt to look like what it does today. I have my work cut out for me to return it to its former glory.
