I haven't had one in a truck for quite some time but they were common till about 10 or 15 years ago. E logs and satellite units took the place of tachographs. I have a brand new tachograph in the box in my collection of goodies up in the shop. Anyone looking for one?

With the old style of tachographs, drivers would do lots of "interesting" things to make them read funky and put their reliability into question with management. Some of the circular paper recording charts looked like the drivers were driving through one earthquake after another.
