I wouldn't be brave enough to guess a price. But tec brake do engine brakes for the mack engines. Apparently they do the replacement parts for Jake brakes also. I'd get a price from them, and speak to a good mechanic about installing them.

We have an e7 with dynatards and they aren't great.

My e6 has Jacobs but they aren't working just yet.

Good luck.

an engine brake on a mack is like dragging a 10 lb. anchor behind a aircraft carrier!.......... for the money the exhaust brake will cost take the truck to a body shop and have a suicide door kit installed with electric windows, then when going down hill you can throw the doors open and then roll windows up or down to simulate one head or two. this is a exact replica of a jake or dynatard on a mack without the exhaust noise :whistling:

I bid on a telma brake on ebay but the guy wanted to get paid with me giving him a card # and it would not go thru ebay so I reneged on the deal.I would have installed it on a CH

I have a jake brake and did have a dnyotard on the engine that was in my truck. Not much difference. The dynotard will engage faster for up shifts and that is all they are good for.The doors open with the windows up and your Imagination will do as good.

I gotta agree with storkmack, every Dynatard I ever had worked good. I was always told the secret was in keeping the valves properly adjusted.

My truck had been sitting for years before I acquired it. Serviced the truck ran it a bit and the Dynatard worked good, had the valves adjusted and it works great. The best is when empty, shifting it like a 5speed with the Dynatard, makes the Paccar guys put air in the seat to see what just past their ass.

well I can agree that a well adjusted dynatard performs BETTER than a ill adjusted one and yes they work great for speed shifting, but compared to a Cummins with a well adjusted Jake, .........well I don't want to start a fist fight!

Anyone have a Telma on a Mack? I have driven a couple of firetrucks with them and they work great, but are a drain on the electrical system when they engage.

Jay Leno put one in a 1941 ALF.

Wonder what Telma has to say on the drain in the electrical system in a modern vehicle?

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

I like the Jakes I had on my '79 & my '90. Like Timmyb says, thats all TecBrake now as they bought Jacobs "vintage" business out. I like the fact that the Jake or Tec Brake is a bolt on deal. The Dynatard used a special cam,if I remember right. True, they don't work the same as on an 855 Cum-a-part,but they will keep you from doing brake jobs so damn often! Al

Mack has a Jake accessory oil line kit that runs from the oil filter housing to the Jake heads. I had this added to my E7 460 and it helped some. The next time I changed oil I put 2 gallons of Lucas in and saw a tremendous increase in braking power. On a section of I80 in PA I had to apply brakes going downhill, after the Lucas I had to add throttle to reach the bottom.
