Posted January 25, 2015 Author Popular Post Share Posted January 25, 2015 Just posted this on my Facebook, figured I would throw it up here as well.........So....We have multiple predictions/forecasts from multiple sources, including The National Weather Service, Philadelphia area news stations, multiple county and local-level emergency management feeds, as well as a bunch of Junior League "I had two semesters of Meteorology and I slept in a Holiday Inn Select last night" guys who think that this (combined with their Magic 8-Balls and their super-secret weather decoder rings) makes them qualified to render "dependable, close-to-accurate" forecasts.BULLSHIT.The other day we were all set to get 3-4". Well.....All of those dumbasses misspelled "8 inches" because we all know that they would never be wrong.....So....For the last hour or so (one of which I will never get back) I have scoured all of these "forecasts" and posts regarding forecasts. I have things in my head such as "eastward track" "Path of least resistance" "moisture levels" "European model" and this model and that model and this projected path and that projected path.None of these sources can agree with one another. None of them. They are all issuing differing views. I have seen everything from 4 to 6", 4-8", 6-8, 8-12, and there were even a couple that said 10-16 and one even said 18-24.So....Here is my prediction. It's going to snow. It's going to be a significant snow, and what I mean by significant is that it will be a pain in the ass. You will have to shovel, snowblow, plow, get out your flamethrower or whatever it is that you do to remove snow from your walks and driveways. You could very well be cabin bound for a couple of days, so if you need to go to the grocery store, might wanna do that ASAP because as we all know, the panic-mongers out there will be beating their drums and by tonight the stores will be getting stampeded. For those of you who can work at home, perhaps you should bring a few projects home from work on Monday, for "just in case" on Tuesday.Total accumulations: When the storm ends, go outside with a tape measure, go to a flat area in your yard away from the house (so that the measurement is not affected by any drifts) and insert into the ground. Read it. There, that's your accumulation. And I bet mine prediction is more accurate then all those college assholes. With all the technology at their disposal,the best these so-called forecasters can do these days is about 60% accuracy on whether or not it's going to snow, let alone how much. Had to break out the Toro push broom to clean the sidewalk, driveway was wet but we got down to 30 last night so patches of ice here and there. More expected today but temps will be above freezing.
