Matthew Cartwright, D-PA. wants to increase the required insurance from $750,000 to $4.2 million per truck, saying it is not enough. i drive a dump truck for the county highway dept. now. looking better every year putting up with all the Bullshit being an owner operator.

they have been talking about this for a while now. yes 750k is a bit outdated but looking at claim statistics i dont remember the exact number but i think it was less than 1% result in caims of more than 750k. in reality 750k number does not mean much because if you want to get a load from anyone you pretty much have to have at least 1 mill in insurance. 4.5 mill is ridiculous unless your hauling hazmat or things that could result in huge environmental clean up problems.

I can see 1 million. Not 4.5 mil. That's like Governor Cumo and his NYEPA head wanting gas stations in Westchester County, NYC, Nassau and Suffolk Counties to all post a 1.5 million dollar environmental bond for each tank in case of a spill.
