Matthew Cartwright, D-PA. wants to increase the required insurance from $750,000 to $4.2 million per truck, saying it is not enough. i drive a dump truck for the county highway dept. now. looking better every year putting up with all the Bullshit being an owner operator. Ezrider Posted February 5, 2015 Share Posted February 5, 2015 they have been talking about this for a while now. yes 750k is a bit outdated but looking at claim statistics i dont remember the exact number but i think it was less than 1% result in caims of more than 750k. in reality 750k number does not mean much because if you want to get a load from anyone you pretty much have to have at least 1 mill in insurance. 4.5 mill is ridiculous unless your hauling hazmat or things that could result in huge environmental clean up problems. That's like Governor Cumo and his NYEPA head wanting gas stations in Westchester County, NYC, Nassau and Suffolk Counties to all post a 1.5 million dollar environmental bond for each tank in case of a spill.
