Doing head gaskets on our 1995 427 (has inline injection pump). Anything I should look for or common things to change while this far apart. Pistons have some carbon buildup on them but not much. They also have a white residue carbon if that makes sense. Have done a lot of tractor and skid loader heads but this is first truck head. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Have you thought of doing an in-frame kit while you're that far into it? My last quote from Mack ( including New poisons) was about $3,300. Comes with almost everything ( she claims anyways, I haven't done it yet)

How long ago was that? or was that just parts only? I have a buddy had 6 new sleeves, old pistons, new rings an bearings + labor. Was over 8k. Our Mack dealer gets $108 an hour. and don't work fast.

When checking liner height im noticing were the fire ring set there's sort of a groove. The inner groove seems to be around 27 thousandths but when you move indicator back out towards block it drops to 13 thousandths before you get back on block. Any thoughts?
