Popular Post fifth wheel Posted February 21, 2015 Popular Post Share Posted February 21, 2015 We have been dealing with snow the past month, moved Cat D8 crawler dozer to city snow dump 1/30/15, We have been pushing snow till now, some days but a 12 hour night shift with as many as 50 dump trucks on per shift. two weeks in two more Cat D8K's and a Cat 330 excavator.Finishing up at daybreak and with temps 5 to - 8 degrees F, sweet sound from those D342's.FW 9 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

leversole Posted February 22, 2015 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Working a strip mine in the winter (when I was a pup)...I remember my dad putting oil soaked rags all around the tracks of our D8 (pony motor start, the coolest thing ever!) and burning them to get the frozen mud softened up to shovel the tracks out...had a long narrow shovel, my dad called it a "sharpshooter"! The spreader plow combo is the third High school classmate of mine that has been using Macks, here is his DM6 with 3 plows and spreader with liquid tanks. The line is now operated by the Providence and Worcester Railroad. I have been there since 1962. In all the time I have been there I have seen the plow only twice, (2013-14) when it came down from the train yard in Walpole NH and appeared to have been out of service for some time. I was told it was redone and new paint and back in service.
