On my 97 Macks they have the crappy engine brake plus the butterfly valve in the exhaust that is closed with an air cylinder.

It works OK but I have a cylinder thats weak and the ball joint assembly is wore out. Mack says they can't get parts for it .

Any one have any ideas where to get the air cylinder for it that is air to stroke out and it pulls back on its own. Maybe a spring in there but I"m not sure

Blue Ox Exhaust Brake?

www.brakesystemsinc.com

Those were the Jacobs "Stealth" engine brake. Had one on my '97 CH, Mite as well stuck an umbrella out the window, would have worked better and sure as hell would have made more noise.

Well the Blue Ox exhaust brake looks almost identical. Mack called me back to day and the air cylinder is available. They're in Chicago and Baltimore I think he said.

Whatever, should be here next week. The exhaust brake is better than the old Dynatard on the R models but it sure is lacking for being a real "great" brake

Thanks for the info guys
