Straight piping brand new mack

Can you straight pipe a brand new Mack without doing any damage to the truck itself? Is it even legal to do this?

Are you suggesting removing the emissions aftertreatment equipment? If so, it is illegal to remove such equipment.

You can't straight pipe an EPA 2007 or EPA 2010 truck as the muffler is a part of the emissions control system

It is not legal to straight pipe the newer trucks. All of them until the ones that use SCR can be straight piped as far as I know.

The computer will "derate and disable" the engine in EPA 2007 engines and later if any of the aftertreatment system is altered or removed.

gotta love it. was talkin to a guy today that plows for NYS dot. said the new Granites are nothing but junk with all the emission crap on them. said the new batch they just got are even worse as they are automatics, said the one he drives lost a cylinder with 60,000 miles on it, said with the emission crap on them it melted the cups of the injectors off. said they work on them non stop and to top it off your in the middle of a snow blizzard and the junk wants to regen. or the ''pickle juice'' tank sensor light will come on, it will derate itself, you check the tank and its full and something freezes up and the computer cant overcome it.said the truck he drives is a 2010 and is on its 3rd oil pan in 5 years. the new batch of automatics have stainless lines to the cooler except for STEEL fittings that go into the trans. he said after 2 years in service in NY salt, the fittings rot off, lose all the fluid and fries the converter. when they called Mack about this simple issue, they were told ''they should have speced trucks for the northern climate'' the main mechanic goes, ''well we sure as hell aren't plowing snow in Florida!''

Glider kits, it's the way to go today! Once you build one, the next ones are a piece a cake!! Go pre EGR power or rolling. Going forward for every one new truck I buy I'll try an buy 1 or 2 gliders
