Nice looking R but in order to guestimate a price more information and details are needed. How many miles, engine rebuilt, condition before restoration, condition of tires, brakes, etc.? But in the end, you are the one that needs to put a price on it.

"Fully restored" as in cab off, nut and bolt job? Or a nice driver restoration? Lot of variables there...Would need some high quality detailed photo's and a list of what's been done to it. After that you can compare to others that have sold in the same condition.

I sold my 1980 R686ST with six speed, little longer wheel base, new fifth-wheel, sand blasted and painted redone interior a couple weeks ago to a collector I tried to make mine as close to stock as possible <<won and placed at a few truck shows>>. Never had real intentions to sell but was asked to sell it. So see below-

'"It's only worth what someone will pay for it".......

If you post some more info and interior pictures I will tell you what I would pay for it.

that's pat's old ride very nice solid straight truck

agree Jim, I thought it was/is Pat's old truck???

i don't know pat, i bought this truck from a guy in PA. the truck was from CT to start with i know that much. i do have some of the history of the truck.

but as of work I've done my self was. full duel wet kit, pintle hitch, new rear springs, new trennion 44k not like the stock 38k, i double frame added an extra crossmembers, torque rods, all new ujoints, added air dyer new shocks all around all new motor mounts, insulators, bolts, recaps in the rear, new fronts 60k miles on all tires, new alternator, 4 new batteries, new turbo, all new belts, new steering wheel, all new air cans shoes and a lot of new lines, there are a ton of things I've missing. about to click 400k will get hours tomorrow.

but here is the thing. I'm in love with this truck. I've taken every bolt off and put a new one on (well a good 85%) and I'm stuck in a rock and a hard place. now this truck its back up and running stronger then ever. its my baby I'm thinking of getting another truck to put to work with me but i don't trust anyone driving it. so do i sell it and move on or keep it because I'm so far into it??

the next truck I'm looking at is a superliner with a cumins 400 mack 12sp. she need a little TLC but not to bad. the other truck is a 03westernstar 500cumins 13spd. both really nice trucks but but i don't know what to do.

Not knowing your operation other than seeing water tankers, I would say keep the R because it will be a solid truck for you. If you have the coin to buy and fix a Superliner, you could get it as a spare!

That truck used to be based a little west of you in Danbury.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

I would keep it they are almost bullet proof drove a 1975 model logging in some very hostile places for 6 years in Australia 237 engine 2 stick 6 speed only had a alternator catch fire bearings collapsed in it still made it to the worksop half hour to put another one on and back to work the boss had 5 newer macks not a patch on this one he said if he could still buy these new he would buy as many as he could get cheers ray

Yeah Ray I reckon if they still made them they would still be selling them like hot cakes but what do I know

I know I would be standing there at Mack Townsville with my cheque book in hand waiting for the doors to open if they still made R Models

Paul

that's hoe the boss felt Paul, sad part is I got put into a 1984 mack, no where as good up in the hilly country a bit faster on flat country new driver in old 237 done 2 loads and lost of logs flattened the cab level with chassis which also twisted like a piece of spaghetti driver jumped out reckon he would have been killed if he didn't it was a complete wreck bent twisted broken every part engine block snapped in half any way (picture of it, the white one) when I drove it. The green one is the newer one I spent the next 4 years driving. cheers Ray.
