Hi all,

Just got off the phone from the Mack dealer about ordering some gaskets for my 237. I am finally getting around to installing the camshaft and was told the front timing cover gasket has been replaced by silicone gasket sealer. There was a gasket before and if I use the sealer I should have to readjust the thrust button adjustments on the front cover for the cam and jackshaft( for the air compressor). The pan gasket is available still. This engine is from an 1977 R model. Is there a part number available for the gasket or is the parts guy correct?

thanks

I know what they have told you but the silicone is good on the aluminn cover but if I were you I would go to a gasket place and buy a roll of fiber gasket and get the med thickness and cut you one out.Remenber the front engine mount mounts on the front cover.I would check around for a aftermarket gasket set also. And yes reset the thrust screw.
