fxfymn Posted April 5, 2015 Share Posted April 5, 2015 I am not even sure it is factual, but I have been told that Don Schumaker has retired from the museum and that a "fire truck" guy has been hired to replace him. I wish him well if he has decided to retire. If they were ever hiring for Museum Operations or Restorations I'd put in a job app in a minute. But most of those guys are volunteers.The guy who is getting the nod is a top shelf guy and yes, knows fire apparatus. He and his crew (Pete, Blackie...) have done a great job with their museum and their collection. Mike never worked for Mack, but their collection leans toward Macks. My AC pumper is on display their right now. I am also a life member. If you have never been to their Museum it is a good destination but make sure they will take you to the warehouse where there are about 60 other trucks owned by the museum and members. I don't know if they will actually take non members but membership is cheap. They are restoring a steel dash R model as their transport truck. My father gave them a nice cab for it. I gave them the 1941 ALF tillered ladder that my father's B85 was made to pull. I was never going to do anything with it. Anyway, Mike is a good guy. I spoke to him yesterday. Any cab over is neat but the old chevy's are special.Good luck to the Mike at the museum. I really hope to get there this fall on teh way to the Hershey car show. It will be my first visit.
