Bird House Trailer

Last year it was a mouse in the MH...now this spring it is a #$%& black bird building a nest in the fifth wheel pin cavity of the trailer. The other day I pulled a couple "basketball" size bunches of twigs, grass, etc. from between the plate and floor. I put small boards in all the access holes and the $%&^* bird pushed one aside and started building again. There are also some 1"+ diameter holes that it may be using too. Today I bought some screen material and going to put screen in all the openings. I will also camp out with the .410 and feed the bird some lead BBs. Between the mice, birds, skunks, groundhogs, and foxes...I have a proverbial wildlife zoo at the farm. There are two (2) barn owls around the farm. I thought owls scared birds away.

Does the cavity between the plate and floor continue thru to each side or is there a divider in the middle? Thinking of using an air hose and blowing all the crap out.

I should have invested in a puddy cat to take care of not only the mice but the birds too. Sufferin Succotash!

Chipmunks will keep the Black Birds from nesting . . .Squirrels will get rid of the Chipmunks . . .Barn owls will get rid of the Squirrels and finally Black Birds will get rid of the Barn Owls. Repeat as often as needed.

Ken forget about the 410, go to the 12ga. its cheaper to shoot! some well placed sticks of dupont will do a awsome job of removing various varmints as well as their habitat, caution use ear protection when using dupont!

Oh dont stand to close either! if using dupont!!!!

IT sounds like you need some fire ants and a bunch of hornets, bees and wasps too. You have to have some stinging insects for fun. It keeps you sharp while you dodge them.

I'm not sure if there is an extra support running lengthwise above the kingpin, but it seems like a good idea. I'd say just stick the hose in there, cover your face, and be prepared to run.

There's all kinds of cross members and supports running every which way up in there. I've replaced a 5th. wheel plate and kingpin on a log trailer and a chip trailer before- not a fun job.The aluminum trailer I pull now has even more, we had to pull the board up to get to the wires one time when I had light problems. It's got drain holes in the corners but the whole front over the 5th. wheel plate had about 2 inches of mud and water in it from dust and dirt getting in. The light plug was completely under water. After a good rain the trailer will drip water for a couple of days. I thought about pulling the board up again and trying to hose it out, so it wouldn't fill up with water and freeze and break something, but I never did.
