The biggest load on single truck

Dear All friends, surprises keep coming from Israel.

This one is 1973 DM with cummins NTA370 and fuller RTO915, specially ordered to heavy haulage by TAAVURA ltd. The leader in Extra Heavy loads.

What will be the exact model? is it DM867SX?

Load is tank carrier weighs 160 ton

GCVW - 230 ton (!) probably the heaviest load of single truck ever transported in Israel.

9 meters high force clear wires along the way

This operation took place in mid 1973, 350 KM long trip from Eilat to Ashdod.

In serious uphills a CAT988 front loader came to help.

i met the DM driver recently, now owner of tire workshop near Ben Gurion airport, he recalls RPM drops from 1,800 even when the 988 pulls, this was "funny" situation.

This DM was very fast as original as all other DM, but to taker this gigantic weight the rear axles replaced to lower ration axles that been took from Autocar, might be Rockwell.

After that, the DM become VERY slow.. the origin driver left the truck in a junction and went away, refuse to drive such slow truck.

However, this transport set the pace for many other success operations made by Taavura group

I don't see the NTA-370 on this list. They might have "borrowed" a model number from a model with a similar engine.

I believe is was Irraeli built at the Ashdod MACK factory. it has the Israeli lighting system on it. Paul

Chevi - this DM is totally american, Mack assembly factory at Ashdod didn't touched it.

the lightning system in the bumper is there because Israel rules that fits European rules, means a-symmetric lights and lower mounting than the origin,

the exhaust pipe is thicker too in this special item.

Green Dash - the truck was special order, therefor the NTA370 probably not listed as an option

Taavura wants a strong engine, so what engine they could buy?

cummins had NTC335 that was very popular by than with many spare parts so maybe was thought to have NTA370 and use NTC for spare parts.

the Mack V8 had good reputation in Taavura but had only 325HP and they wanted more, i didn't see the stronger CAT 1693 or 3408 at the list and Taavura will not gamble on such combo on this DM neither on the GM V12-71 even very powerful and reliable
